Sister Rose Marie Galligan, S.C., who served for more than half a century at the New York Foundling Hospital, died Sept. 16 at Mary the Queen Convent in Yonkers. She was 89.

Beginning in 1946, she served at the Foundling in various capacities, from bookkeeper to personnel, finance and support services. She was assistant administrator for finance for 14 years. Following her retirement in 1997, she was a volunteer until 2000.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1944 and made her final vows in 1949. She was formerly known as Sister Thomas Regina. A brother, Thomas, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 19 at Mary the Queen Convent. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
