Sister Rosemary Empen, O.P., who taught at Corpus Christi School in Manhattan for four years, died March 2 at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wis. She was 88.
Sister Rosemary taught at Corpus Christi, 1962-1966. She also served in Illinois, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Mississippi and Bolivia.
Born in RochellIll., she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, Wis., in 1955 and professed final vows in 1960.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Rosary College, River Forest, Ill., and a master’s in religious studies from Mundelein College, Chicago.
Her sisters, Shirley Modjallal, Phyliss Gibson and Carol Glenn; and brothers, Joseph and Ronald, survive her.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 11 at the Dominican motherhouse in Sinsinawa. Burial was in the motherhouse cemetery.
