Sister Sheila Marie O’Regan, O.P.

Sister Sheila Marie O’Regan, O.P., who served as a librarian for 12 years at St. Catharine Academy in the Bronx, died July 30 in Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack. She was 87.

Sister Sheila Marie was at St. Catharine, 1989-2001. She also was a librarian at Cardinal Hayes High School, the Bronx, 2001-2004.

She taught at St. Benedict School, the Bronx, 1984-1989; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Middletown, 1961-1966; St. James, Carmel, 1958-1961; and St. Martin of Tours, the Bronx, 1966-1969 and 1955-1958. She also served in Brooklyn and Hicksville.

Born in the Bronx, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1953 and professed final vows in 1960.

She received a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, and a master’s in library science from St. John’s University, Queens.
Her brother, Timothy, survives her.

Funeral arrangements were private. Burial was in St. Agnes Cemetery, Sparkill.
