Sister Yolanda De Mola, S.C., who taught on all levels from elementary school to college and was a college administrator, died Oct. 18 at Mary the Queen Convent in Yonkers. She was 88.

She served from 1971 to 1989 at Fordham University, where she taught Spanish and was assistant director of admissions and assistant dean. At the College of New Rochelle she was assistant to the vice president for special projects, 1989-1998.

She taught in Manhattan at Holy Cross Academy, 1968-1971; Cathedral High School, 1961-1968; St. Joachim’s School, 1961; St. Francis Xavier, 1960-1961; St. Brigid’s, 1958-1960; and Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1946-1954. She taught in the Bronx at St. Athanasius, 1956-1958; St. Augustine’s, 1955-1956; SS. Peter and Paul, 1954-1955; and St Raymond’s, 1944-1945, and in Yonkers at St. Joseph’s, 1945-1946.

She also did translations, including “Recollections and Reflections” by Father Pedro Arrupe, S.J., who was superior general of the Society of Jesus; “You and I: Meditations for Everybody” by Father Alberto Moreno, S.J., and “In Quest of a Vision,” by Sister Maria Isolina Ferré, M.S.B.T., who worked with the poor in Puerto Rico.

Sister Yolanda, born in New York City, entered the Sisters of Charity in 1942 and professed final vows in 1949. Formerly she was known as Sister Marita Carmel. She held a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Mount St. Vincent; master’s degrees in Spanish and theology from Fordham University; and a doctorate in Spanish literature from the City University of New York.

She is survived by a sister, Brunilda De Mola, and a brother, Jack. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct 22 at Mary the Queen Convent, with burial at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
