St. Patrick’s Celebrations Around the Archdiocese

A St. Patrick’s Day Mass will be offered at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 70 Carmelite Drive, Middletown, Saturday, March 17, at noon. Father James Hess, O. Carm., will be the celebrant.

Solemn First Vespers for the Solemnity of St. Patrick will be offered at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 869 Lexington Ave., Manhattan, Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m., followed by a concert of Irish traditional music on fiddle, concertina and flute led by Willie Kelly, Christy McNamara and Father Innocent Smith, O.P. Free will offering.

An Irish Fleadh will be held in Walter F. Kenny Hall at St. Augustine’s Church, 111 Larchmont Ave., Larchmont, Sunday, March 18, 2:30-4:45 p.m. The Wild Irish Rovers band will perform. Irish dancing; arts and crafts will be available for children. Desserts and Irish coffee (non-alcoholic) will be served. Cost: $25 per family, $7 per person. Celtic Nights-Oceans of Hope, a music and dance performance about the Irish who left their homeland for distant shores during the Great Hunger, will be performed at the Sheen Center, 18 Bleecker St., Manhattan, Tuesday, March 27 to Monday, April 9. Ticket information: (212) 925-2812.

The seventh annual Sober St. Patrick’s Day NYC Party
will be held at St. Patrick’s Youth Center, 268 Mulberry St., Manhattan, Saturday, March 17, 4-7 p.m. Featuring John Whelan, All-Ireland champion button accordion player; Brian Conway, All-Ireland champion fiddle player; and step dancers from the Donny Golden School of Irish Dance.
