A critical moment has arrived for Catholic leadership to denounce the recent threat by Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio to close down a number of our churches, both Catholic and Christian, as well as a number of synagogues, once again.
Our Catholic laity is getting frustrated that our Catholic leaders continue to remain silent while our elected leaders in New York impose their will on every Christian and Jewish community, especially our Catholic churches. Our churches have “bent over backwards” to follow safe practices in their worship throughout this pandemic.
If the Church leaders fail to take a stand on this issue, our Church will become less important in the lives of its members.
