Father Harold P. Theriault, who served as pastor of St. Sylvia parish in Tivoli for more than a decade, died Nov. 7. He was 89.
He was pastor of St. Sylvia’s, in the northwest corner of Dutchess County, from 1995 until his retirement in 2008.
He served as a parochial vicar of St. Theresa’s, Briarcliff Manor, 1982-1995, and St. Vincent de Paul, Manhattan, 1960-1982, and had a summer assignment at Our Lady of Loreto, Manhattan, in 1960.
Born in Tarrytown, he attended St. Teresa’s grammar school. He studied for the priesthood at Cathedral College and St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie. He was ordained in 1960.
After retirement, he resided in Quebec.
A Funeral Mass was scheduled for Nov. 16 at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Sleepy Hollow, with Father Rumando Peralta, C.R.L., the pastor, as principal celebrant and Father Roman Palecko, C.O., a parochial vicar of St. Paul and St. Ann parish in Congers, as homilist.
Interment was to be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
