Father Lawrence J. Quinn

Father Lawrence J. Quinn, a pastor in the archdiocese for 32 years, died April 8. He was 76.

Father Quinn was pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Mount Vernon, 2002-2015, and Our Lady of Mercy, the Bronx, 1983-2002. He served as parochial vicar of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Manhattan, before retiring in 2020. He served in the Bronx as temporary administrator of Our Lady of Victory, 1979-1983, and parochial vicar of St. John Vianney, 1971-1979.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 13 at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle, with Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan of the Diocese of Camden as celebrant, and Msgr. Dennis P. Keane, pastor of Holy Family parish, delivered the homily.

Born in the Bronx, he studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, and was ordained by Cardinal Terence Cooke in 1971.

Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
Hawthorne.
