Sister Lucia (Lucy) Yu, M.M., a medical doctor who served in Kenya and her native South Korea, died Nov. 9 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 89.
Sister Lucia served in South Korea in the 1960s and in the 1990s, and in Kenya in the 1960s to the 1980s, in roles related to her medical profession. She taught Medical English at a university in China in the 1990s.
Over the years she also served in the development department and in support services at Maryknoll in Ossining.
She entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1965 and made final vows in 1975. She held a medical degree in obstetrics and gynecology from Seoul Women's Medical College in Pusan, South Korea.
A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 17 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery.
