Six priests have been named pastors of parishes in the archdiocese, and two others have been named administrators, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.
The newly named pastors are Father Daniel D’Alliessi, St. Mary’s, Wappingers Falls; Father Omumuawuike Ambrose Madu, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Staten Island; Father Michael Moon, Sacred Heart, Hartsdale; Father Joseph Mujaeropiro, A.J., Holy Family-Blessed Sacrament and St. John Vianney, the Bronx; Father Miroslaw Pawlaczyk, Immaculate Conception, Kingston; and Father Ronald Perez, St. Mary-St. Joseph, Poughkeepsie.
The new administrators are Father Mark Escobar, C.S., Our Lady of Pompeii, Manhattan; and Msgr. Edward Barry, Holy Rosary, Hawthorne.
All the appointments were effective July 1.
Father Daniel D’Alliessi had served as administrator of St. Mary’s parish, Wappingers Falls, since October. He served as parochial vicar of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Bronx, 2012-2016, and St. Paul, Congers, 2004-2006. He also undertook graduate studies in moral theology at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He was ordained in 2004.
Father Omumuawuike Ambrose Madu had served as administrator of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Staten Island, since last July. He was parochial vicar of St. Brendan-St. Ann, 2015-2016; Holy Family, 2013-2015; and St. Anthony of Padua, 2004-2009. He was a hospital chaplain at New York-Presbyterian, 2009-2013. He was ordained for the Claretian Missionaries in Nigeria in 1996 and was incardinated into the archdiocese in 2015.
Father Michael Moon has served as administrator of Sacred Heart, Hartsdale, since last July. He had served as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart, Suffern, 2012-2016; Blessed Sacrament, Staten Island, 2007-2012; and Our Lady of the Assumption, the Bronx, 2004-2007. He was ordained in 2004.
Father Joseph Mujaeropiro, A.J., had served as parochial vicar of Holy Family-Blessed Sacrament and St. John Vianney parish in the Bronx since 2015. A native of South Sudan, he was ordained to the priesthood for the Apostles of Jesus in 2003.
Father Miroslaw Pawlaczyk had served as administrator of Immaculate Conception, Kingston, since last July. He was administrator of Sacred Heart, Port Chester, 2014-2015. He was parochial vicar of Our Lady of Mercy, Port Chester, 2015-2016, and St. John the Evangelist, Mahopac, 2004-2014. He was ordained in 1992 in his native Poland and was incardinated into the archdiocese in 2011.
Father Ronald Perez had served as administrator of St. Mary-St. Joseph, Poughkeepsie, since last July. He served as parochial vicar of St. Charles, Staten Island, 2011-2016, and St. Kateri Tekakwitha, LaGrangeville, 2008-2011. He was ordained in 2008.
Administrators
Father Mark Escobar, C.S., who most recently served at a parish in Mississauga, Ontario, was assistant archivist at St. Charles provincial house in Manhattan and a weekend assistant at St. Paul’s, Staten Island, 2006-2010. A native of the Philippines, he was ordained for the Missionaries of St. Charles (Scalabrinians) in 1995.
Msgr. Edward Barry had served as parochial vicar of St. Patrick’s, Yorktown Heights, since last August. He served as pastor of St. Barnabas, the Bronx, 2004-2016, and vicar and then dean of the Northeast Bronx, 2007-2016. He was pastor of St. Charles Borromeo, Dover Plains, 1993-2004, where he was administrator, 1991-1993. He was director of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) in the archdiocese, 1986-1991. He served as parochial vicar of St. Frances de Chantal, the Bronx, 1980-1986, and St. Patrick’s, Yorktown Heights, 1973-1980. He was ordained in 1973 and named a monsignor in 1999.
