Brother Thomas Andrew Prendergast, C.F.C., who taught at Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle for 19 years, died Nov. 6 at Montefiore Hospital-New Rochelle. He was 60.
Brother Prendergast served at Iona Prep, 2006-2019 and 1990-1996. He taught at Rice High School, Harlem, 1981-1983, and also served in Massachusetts and Florida.
Born in New York, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1977 and professed final vows in 1988.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Iona College, New Rochelle; a master’s in math and science from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.; and a master’s in biology from the University of California, Irvine.
His brother, John, survives him.
A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 10 at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle. Burial was in the Christian Brothers’ Cemetery, West Park.
