Father Martin J. Dennehy, who served in the dioceses of Bridgeport, Conn., and Brooklyn, died Sept. 16. He was 88.
He was pastor of Or Lady of Good Counsel Church, Bridgeport, 1969-1980, and parochial vicar at other parishes. He also was a hospital chaplain. He retired in 1994.
Born in New York City, he studied at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Huntington, and St. Mary’s University and Seminary, Emmitsburg, Md. He was ordained in 1951 in the Diocese of Brooklyn and incardinated in the Diocese of Bridgeport in 1961.
His sister, Sister Eileen Dennehy, P.B.V.M., of New Windsor, and his brothers Deacon John Dennehy, of Brooklyn, and James Dennehy, survive him. A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 20 at St. Theresa’s Church, Trumbull. Burial followed at the Priest Circle at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
