Father Philip Pascucci, S.D.B.

Father Philip Pascucci, S.D.B., a teacher, pastoral minister, librarian, and archivist for the Salesian province in New Rochelle, died Feb. 1 at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, N.J. He was 95.

He was a librarian at Don Bosco College in Newton, N.J., 1966-1982, and served as the province’s archivist, 1983-1989 and 1991-2001. He also taught at Salesian High School, New Rochelle, 1944-1946 and 1951-1953, and Don Bosco Juniorate, Haverstraw, 1959-1960.

He was on the staff of the Salesian Bulletin in New Rochelle and served as chaplain of the Ursuline Sisters, 1953-1954. He also served as parochial vicar at Corpus Christi parish, Port Chester, 1960-1961, and Holy Rosary, Port Chester, 2004-2010. He also served in Paterson N.J. and Vancouver, B.C.

Born in the Bronx, he entered the Salesian novitiate in 1940, professed final vows in 1947, and was ordained a priest in 1951. He held a bachelor’s degree from Don Bosco College, a master’s in library sciences from St. John’s University, a master’s in education from Rutgers University and a doctorate in education from New York University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 4 at Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey, N.J., Burial was in the Salesian Cemetery in Goshen.
