Father Quintin A. Neyland, O.F.M.

Father Quintin A. Neyland, O.F.M., who served for many years at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Manhattan, died May 30 at St. Anthony Friary in Butler, N.J. He was 88. Father Neyland was a parochial vicar at St. Francis of Assisi from 1976 to 1998, and remained there in retirement from 1998 to 2003. He moved to St. Anthony Friary in 2003. He previously had served at parishes in Boston and in West Milford and Wanaque in New Jersey. Born in Brooklyn, he attended St. Joseph's Seminary in Callicoon for two years before entering the Franciscans of the Holy Name Province in 1940. He professed final vows in 1944, and was ordained in 1946 after studies at St. Stephen Friary, Croghan; St. Anthony Friary and Holy Name College in Washington, D.C. He is survived by a brother, Herbert. A Funeral Mass was celebrated June 2 at St. Anthony's Church, Butler, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery there.
