Joseph F. Vandernoot, who was honored with his wife, Alice, in 2004 as the longest-married couple in the archdiocese, died Oct. 21 at his home in Larchmont. He was 102.

Mrs. Vandernoot died in 2006; the couple were married for 74 years.

Mr. Vandernoot was active at their parish, St. Augustine’s in Larchmont, as a daily communicant, Eucharistic minister, lector and, until recently, senior altar server. He also was active in civic affairs.

He retired from R.W. Pressprich and Co. in Manhattan as senior vice president in charge of municipal bonds.

He was predeceased by a son, Peter. He is survived by four daughters, Barbara Betkowski, Alice Sweeney, Mary Cox and Dorothy Lakso, and two sons, Gerard (Jerry) and Michael.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 25 at St. Augustine’s Church. Burial was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
