Sister Agnes DiGiacomo, O.P.

Sister Agnes DiGiacomo, O.P., a former principal of Christ the King School in Yonkers, died Dec. 9 in the infirmary of the Dominican Sisters of Hope in Newburgh. She was 73. She was principal at Christ the King, 1977-1982. She taught at Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School, New Rochelle, 1982-2001, and at Holy Family School, New Rochelle, 1975-1977. She earlier taught at SS. John and Paul School, Larchmont, 1962-1965, and at St. Patrick’s, Newburgh, 1965-1968. Beginning in 2001 she was academic adviser at Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh. She also taught in New Jersey and Puerto Rico. From 1987 to 2003, she assisted at a summer camp in Connecticut. Born in Bronxville, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh in 1955 and professed final vows in 1960. She was formerly

known as Sister Charles Elizabeth. She held a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s in history, both from Villanova University. She is survived by a brother, Charles. Among those who predeceased her was a sister, Sister Margaret Mary DiGiacomo, O.P. A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 12 in the Dominican Sisters of Hope chapel in Newburgh, with burial in the sisters’ cemetery.
