Sister M. Daniela McCarthy, I.H.M., who served as principal of St. Ann School in Nyack for six years, died May 30 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 101.
Sister Daniela was at St. Ann’s, 1962-1968. She also served in Syracuse, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Idaho.
Born in Pittston, Pa., she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1940 and professed final vows in 1945.
She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education from Marywood College, Scranton.
The Funeral Mass and graveside service were private. Burial was in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
