Sister Mary Christopher O’Toole, R.D.C.

Sister Mary Christopher O’Toole, R.D.C., a teacher and administrator at several schools in the archdiocese, died June 18 at Good Counsel Convent in White Plains. She was 88.

She began her teaching career at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Elmsford. She also served at Preston High School in the Bronx and St. Mary’s High School in Katonah as an assistant principal and math teacher. She served as a math teacher, academic dean and principal at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion in 1943 and professed final vows in 1948. She held a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Good Counsel College and a master’s in math from The Catholic University of America.

Her brother Walter survives her. A Funeral Mass was offered June 21 in the Chapel of the Divine Compassion in White Plains. Burial followed there at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
