Sister Jo Ann Schwarz, S.C., who served in the Diocese of Brooklyn for 38 years, died May 2 at Schervier Nursing Care Center in the Bronx. She was 76.

She was at Our Lady of Angelus in Queens, as parish coordinator, 1980-2011, and teacher, 1973-1980, and served as principal and teacher at St. Monica School, Queens, 1965-1973.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1961 and professed final vows in 1969. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the College of Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx, and a master’s in theology from St. John’s University, Queens.

Her sister, Marilyn Schwarz, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was offered May 7 in the Mount St. Vincent Convent Assembly Room in the Bronx. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers.
