Sister Maureen Dailey, I.H.M.

Sister Maureen Dailey, I.H.M., who taught at schools in Manhattan and Staten Island, died Jan. 8 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 84.

Sister Maureen taught at Blessed Sacrament School, Staten Island, for seven years ending in 1997. She taught at St. Stephen School, Manhattan, 1984-1990. Over the decades, she taught on Long Island, and in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Born in Scranton, Pa., she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1954 and made final vows in 1960. She held a bachelor’s degree in education and English, and a master’s in education and mathematics, both from Marywood College in Scranton. She was formerly known as Sister Marie de Porres.

Sister Maureen is survived by two brothers, John and Robert, and nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were private. Burial was at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
