Sister Maureen-Thérèse McGroddy, R.S.H.M.

Sister Maureen-Thérèse McGroddy, R.S.H.M., who served as director of admissions at the School of Applied Theology in Berkeley, Calif., for 25 years, died Feb. 27 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. She was 82.

Sister Maureen-Thérèse was at the School of Applied Theology, 1988-2013. She also served in Virginia and Rome.

Born in New York City, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1956 and professed final vows in 1963.

She received a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Marymount College, Tarrytown; and a master’s in guidance from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

Her brothers, Charles, Peter and James, and sisters, Patricia McGroddy and Helen McGroddy Murphy, survive her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 4 at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
