Sister Rita McDonald, S.A., who served in catechetical and pastoral ministry in New York and several other states, died March 14 at Graymoor in Garrison. She was 88.
She served in Canajoharie, Athens, Rocky Point, Glens Falls, Mechanicville, and Scotia, all in New York, as well as in Connecticut, Arizona, Nevada and California.
Born in Boston, she entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement in 1946 and professed final vows in 1953.
A Funeral Mass was offered March 17 at the motherhouse chapel at Graymoor. Burial followed in the sisters’ cemetery there.
