Sister Teresa Weed, O.S.U.

Sister Teresa Weed, O.S.U., who taught at three elementary schools in New Rochelle, died March 28 at Calvary Hospital, the Bronx. She was 92.

She was a teacher at Blessed Sacrament School, 1945-1948; the lower school of The Ursuline School, 1948-1961; and New Rochelle Catholic Elementary School, 1972-1991.

She was an assistant teacher at the Headstart Children’s Center for Learning, White Plains, 1991-2009. She also taught in Maryland.

She was the editor of Bylines, an Ursuline province newsletter, 1992-2004.

Born in the Bronx, she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1939 and professed final vows in 1948. Formerly known as Mother Mary Louis, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of New Rochelle.

A Funeral Mass was offered March 31 at the Province Center Chapel. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre, both in New Rochelle.
